“Our services span from minor repairs to custom remodels, and we are eager to help you realize your vision in the most sustainable and cost-effective way possible. I honed my skills from my father, who was a stone mason, and I started following in his footsteps as soon as I was able to hold a trowel. By the time I was twelve, I was playing with dangerous power tools, laying brick, painting and installing drywall; ultimately becoming a “handy-woman” to help finance my education. Passionate about building, sustainability, and design, I transferred these skills to my business where we coach-up new contractors. We are women-owned and proud of it!”

Meet the Founder:
Kathryn “Kazoo” Shearman is the founder and owner of Shearman Builders, a California LLC. She brings a unique blend of artistry and practical application to her work. With the background of a trained sculptor, her attention to detail and keen ability to maximize usable space makes the most of any project while minimizing waste and excess cost.
When she is not building you can find her playing music with her band, Mother & The Boards, designing shirts for social causes with Soul Sister Screenprinting, or coaching up new contractors through her new co-owned business, FIRE Farms LLC.
Born and raised in Mamaroneck, NY she attended public schools with excellent arts education. After 2 years on an arts scholarship to the Maryland Institute College of Art, she went on to graduate from Cornell University’s school of Art, Architecture and Planning with honors. She resides in Oakland, CA and is currently working to build her dream home in the Sierra Foothills.
